The Ancient Vicarage Of Rye - Fletcher's House

The wonderful historic building, which is both home and restaurant, has been carefully restored and combines a traditional setting with a contemporary menu. An Historical XV century Tudor House, Fletcher's House, was the birth place of John Fletcher, dramatist & collaborater with Beautmount. Born here in 1579 the son of - John Fletcher, Curate of Rye - later Bishop pf Bristol & Worcester & later Bishop of London - attended Mary Queen of Scots at her execution. The House was partly re-fronted in 1701 though the Ancient Vicarage is still in a good State of Preservation with Beautiful half timbered Oak Rooms"

Sit by the fire on a cold day eating Lee's home cooked food and you won't want to leave which could be the reason for their resident ghost! The picture of John Fletcher in their restaurant is a copy of the original in the National Portrait Gallery which was donated to Pete & Lee after they raised funds via community projects to keep the picture in the Gallery.
